Cascading waterfalls, clear mountain streams amidst flora and founa of diverse species await once you set foot in Kenong Rimba Park, a 128 square kilometre forest park situated in the valleys of the Kenong River. The park is where several popular explorable limestone cave, among which are Batu Tangkup, Batu Tangga, Batu Hijau and Batu Harimau, that provide natural habitat for bats and other nocturnal creatures. Although tigers are rarely sighted at the caves, their tracks are often spotted here. You will marvel at the range of flora and fauna found in the caves, located approximately between 122-152 metres above sea level.
A major attraction of the Kenong Rimba Park, is the seven-tier waterfall with its crashing rapids that flow through rugged rocky terrain. As in any other forest park in Malaysia, Kenong Rimba Park is home to a variety of wildlife including elephant, panther, sun bear, tapir, flying fox, sambar deer and mouse-deer. There are also several species of primates such as monkeys and gibbon. Kenong Rimba Park is a sanctuary to wildbirds, which include many migratory species from as far away as North Asia and endemic species, such as the yellow-vented bulbul, white-rump sharma, brown shrike, chestnut-winged babbler and racquet-tailed drongo.
The spectacular forest at Kenong Rimba Park provides a perfect hideway for nature enthusiasts. Besides cave exploration, swimming and dipping in the cool pools of the 7-tier waterfall, you could indulge in spotting rare-orchids, fishing and endless days of jungle trekking. Along the way you can get to know the lifestyle of the friendly aboriginines of the batik tribe.
